About Me

I have always been a creative person, interested in people.   In my teens I was a keen instrumentalist and studied Music at Durham University.    In 1997, after some time as a primary school teacher I realised my dream and became an HCPC-registered Music Psychotherapist. This was a hugely interesting time, where for 25 years, I worked with many different types of people, combining a successful freelance practice with teaching, supervising and some writing.

Seeking a new challenge, I then trained as a Psychotherapist with the Metanoia Instutute, London.   This felt like an exciting move, from working primarily with music to words - like a new conversation across brain hemispheres.

I started my own private psychotherapy practice in 2021 and it feels fitting now that I integrate EMDR into my work, a therapy based on the healing, holistic activation of both sides of the brain.  I am the only EMDR Psychotherapist who also holds arts psychotherapy HCPC registration and offer the possibility to integrate music into every stage of the EMDR protocol, a cutting-edge development within approved EMDRIA practice.  I am also trained in Attachment-Focussed EMDR and IFS-Informed EMDR  - practices which support safe, deeply effective trauma processing.

In addition to running my own private practice, I also provide EMDR Psychotherapy for The Sussex Psychological Therapy Centre, Hove.

I live in Steyning.  In my spare time, I am a keen local singer...I love being expressive, singing beautiful music with groups of people.   I practise yoga and enjoy being in nature.  I have a wide range of interests, which are all about relaxation and having a good, balanced life.
